Sam Hobbs is one of Australia’s leading Production Designers, known for his versatility and design excellence across feature film and television. His recent work includes The Deb, which premiered at TIFF and was praised by Deadline for “perfect production design,” as well as Kangaroo by Kate Woods for StudioCanal, and Beast by Tyler Atkins starring Russell Crowe. He has collaborated with a wide range of acclaimed storytellers including Kriv Stenders, Jocelyn Moorhouse and Leah Purcell, bringing a strong, story-driven approach to each project. His designs have shaped stories featuring talent such as Lupita Nyong'o, Jason Isaacs, Sam Worthington, Zac Efron and Sean Penn. 

His approach to production design emphasizes collaboration and a holistic understanding of the narrative, ensuring that every design choice serves the story’s emotional and thematic core. His work has earned multiple APDG nominations including for Hanyut, Gold, and The Drover's Wife: The Legend of Molly Johnson, as well as an AACTA nomination for the latter. A graduate of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, Sam never fails to bring an original and authentic imagination to every project he undertakes.
